Michelle Wie's Strange Sunglasses Ritual

Image
What the hell is Michelle Wie doing with those sunglasses? Something weird. But I suppose you need something to keep your mind off things and help you relax between shots. Though she should definitely take another look at her grip technique. That's not going to help her in the men's events.

Paula Creamer on the button

Image
We're not sure whether to nominate Paula Creamer for the Love Those Lady Golfers Lady Golfer of the Year Award or not. We thought there would have been a flood of nominations for her from outside but there has been barely a trickle. Perhaps it is because naughty Natalie Gulbis has been hogging all the limelight. This is an old shot of Paula and it does show she goes to great lengths with her golf, even matching her driver shaft with her outfit. And we're not saying anything about the belly button. As long as it is pointing at the target line at some point during the follow through it is okay by us. We'll have to ponder this conundrum a lot further. That's a big and elegant (though very apt) word for what we do here.

Kim Hall parting the waters

Image
Now I don’t want to talk out of school, but this photo of lovely LPGA golfer Kim Hall is more than a little suspicious. Kim was competing in the first round of the Jamie Farr Owens Corning Classic when this was taken and not doing too well. She was on her way to a 71 and a tie for 56th position when, shortly after this shot was taken, lightening and heavy rain stopped play. Now I can’t say for certain that Kim is shown here using her powers to summon a severe storm to get her out of a sticky situation, but if she’s not doing that, what the hell is she doing? If it was Moses – on a golf course – you would say he was parting the waters on the dam leading to the 17th green to make way for his approach shot. But it isn’t. We’ll be watching Kim very closely to see what else she gets up to. To that end, Kim has been nominated for the Love Those Lady Golfers Lovely Lady of the Year Award.

Sandra Gal in the Wilhelmina 7

Image
Everyone knows you can’t eat golf clubs, especially drivers (I’ve tried). Maybe that’s why Sandra Gal (pictured) has signed up as one of the “Wilhelmina 7”, a hand-picked group of seven LPGA pros represented by Wilhelmina Artist Management, a division of the New York modeling agency that includes such clients as singers Fergie and Ciara and actress Heather Graham. The seven top members of the LPGA Tour have signed exclusive representation agreements with Wilhelmina to seek out sponsorship and endorsement opportunities for the women as a whole package and individually. As well as Sandra, the Wilhelmina 7 includes Minea Blomqvist, Anna Grzebien, Kim Hall, Johanna Head, Mikaela Parmlid, and Stacy Prammanasudh. Announcing the move, Wilhelmina Chairman Dieter Esch said: This was perfect, to show the world there are sexy, athletic women who can play." Strangely, that’s just about the mission of Love Those Lady Golfers as well, so we are all for it. "We created this initiative to co...
